If I could, I would ask John Stossel's mustache if it thinks the 20/20 correspondent to whose face it is attached would be able to get by without it. I have strong suspicions that John Stossel's mustache is the driving force behind John Stossel, and that were Stossel deprived of his mustache, he would meekly retreat into the role of back-up consumer rights reporter at some tiny news station in South Dakota. But Stossel's mustache seems to be going strong, piggybacking on the popularity of Stossel's book, Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity. Despite the fact that the mustache is not credited with a byline in the book, Stossel's mustache plays a key role on the book's cover and will no doubt play a key role in Stossel's upcoming speaking engagement at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane. See John Stossel and his mustache at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is free. Call 214-523-2270.
