New York City?!
With a title like Dances at a Gathering, Daydreaming in Dallas, one might assume that the Chamberlain Ballet's latest production would actually take place in its namesake city. However, you would be wrongalthough you have to admit one might daydream of Dallas while sitting in the chilly confines of a theater in Richardson. Dances is just that, a program of dances featuring members of the Ballet Ensemble of Texas and the Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, as well as two principal dancers from the New York City Ballet, who will travel more than 1,500 miles to bore the living crap out of you with pas de deux like Diamonds and In a Landscape. The Daydreaming in Dallas portion of the show consists of a minimusical containing works by Stephen Sondheim, Dorothy Fields and Frank Loesser, though it inexplicably lacks classic Dallas favorites like Garth Brooks' "Rodeo" and Little Texas' "God Bless Texas." It all starts Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson. Tickets are $6 to $40. Call 972-744-7650 or visit eisemanncenter.com.
Sat., Feb. 11, 7:30 p.m.
