No Bones About Consciousness Festival
On the day of his death last February 15, Bandele Tyehimba, proprietor of the Pan African Connection art gallery and book store in South Dallas, spoke to a friend, Aaron Cottrell, about his desire to launch an annual consciousness raising festival on the parking lot of the gallery. Now Cottrell and others have cooperated to bring about Bandele's wish as a posthumous tribute. The First Annual Bandele Consciousness Festival will take place July 28, from noon to 9pm at the gallery, which sits at 828 4th Ave. There will be live music. Artists and performers will appear including the glassblowers, Blake Boettcher and Chase Pridavka, and Mr. Bonetangles, the skeleton. The festival, a free-admission family affair, will include face-painting and bounce house for children, Jamba Juice smoothies and Jah' Bless Natural Hair and Skin Products for adults. Celebrate the life of a man who helped increase minds through education and love. Call 214 943 8262 or visit Bandelefestival.tumblr.com.
