Oh Oh, We're Jamming
Sure, Ludacris and Ciara headline K104's Summer Jam. But the real stars are homegrown. Up-and-comer Trai'd is too young to even get into the clubs banging his "Gutta Chick," but that's not stopping him from "...popping bottles with some models at the bar" (not to mention "...blowing herb, sipping syrup, poppin' bars")--at least, that's what he claims he do be doing in "iDoobie." Say what you will about novelty dances in Dallas hip-hop, but you've gotta admit, naming one after a pool hall (as Summer Jam performer Fat Pimp did with "Rack Daddy") put a creative twist on the D-Town Boogie. And Tum Tum's 2006 "Caprice Music" was the official D-Town custom-car anthem--until Dorrough's "Ice Cream Paintjob" came along a couple years later. Dorrough didn't stop with one hit, though: His "Walk That Walk" ode to head-turning ladies was a respectable hit, and this summer's "Get Big" (with its ridiculous "You ain't...got e-...nough...money!" chorus) is the hustler's summer anthem of 2010. The show starts 6 p.m. Saturday at Verizon Theatre, 1001 Performance Place in Grand Prairie. Tickets are $19.50 to $39.50 plus service charges and available through Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com.
Sat., July 31, 6 p.m., 2010
