The Game’s Afoot is bloodless bedlam, like Murder, She Wrote but without the dogged bad luck. The slapstick who-done-it play is your classic murder mystery. A holiday party in 1930s Connecticut is all fun and games until someone ends up dead. But this is no ordinary home. It’s the castle built and owned by actor William Gillette, the playwright, actor and director responsible for embodying Sherlock Holmes in popular productions in the late 1800s and early 1900s. When the murder occurs, Gillette sets his pipe between his lips, dons Holmes’ deerstalker cap and goes to work to solve the crime before other guests become victims.
