Every year in May, local professional and aspiring filmmakers receive one theme, one prop, one location and one line of dialogue. Then, they have 24 hours to turn that outline into a short film. If you see miniature film crews running around Dallas this weekend, there’s no need to call the cops. They’re just participating in the 24 Hour Video Race. The starting line is the Angelika Film Center (5321 E. Mockingbird Lane) at 11:59 p.m. Friday and the final product has to be in before the calendar flips to Sunday. Then, the films will be screened throughout the next week, until the finalists are selected May 19. Team registration cost depends on the number of team members, starting with $55 for soloists.
