One Dead Lady
Our Lady of 121st Street premiered off Broadway in 2003, telling the story of a gang of old friends who reunite to mourn a nun from their school days. Somewhere in the typical funeral chatter, they find themselves confronted with (surprise!) a murder mystery. If I had to ballpark it, I'd say The Big Chill meets Sleepers. Or maybe Sister Act meets Sleepers. Or maybe The Big Chill meets Home Alone 2 (I'm stretching here, but come on, the Talkboy deserves a comeback). Anyway you slice it, that's entertainment, and with both Kitchen Dog Theater and the SMU Meadows School of the Arts collaborating on the production, you can rest assured it will at least be better than Home Alone 3. Catch Our Lady of 121st Street at 8 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Heldt/Hall Theater at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary, 3120 McKinney Ave. The production continues through December 9.
