One Hip Puppy

We’re fortunate to live in a community saturated with art. From visual to dance, symphony to stage, there are a few groups we always keep in our sights, despite the heavy competition, and one of those companies is Kitchen Dog Theatre. Never afraid to push an unconventional production into the limelight, this theatrical organization keeps it fresh and does so on a minimal budget. I’ve scoured that parking lot and I promise you that Kitchen Dog actors are not the ones driving the Maseratis, those are illegally parked Uptowners. On Saturday, Kitchen Dog refills the financial cabinets with its annual gala Hooch & Pooch, and they’re having it at the appropriately hip, everything-but-a-regular-bar space, Four Corners Brewing Company (423 Singleton Blvd., in Trinity Groves). It’s boasting a tongue-in-cheek “Hipster Formal” dress code (yes, now is the time to wear an all-tweed suit and carry a briefcase ... ladies), plenty of dancing, live entertainment, doggy bags, booze, a silent auction and the opportunity to support experimental theater in Dallas. Tickets cost $60 now, and $70 at the door. Visit The party runs from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Sat., Feb. 23, 8-11 p.m., 2013
