Here's the scenario: You decide that you're hungry, so you round up your dining pals and try to figure out where to go, an exercise in futility that can take upward of half an hour in some cases. Once a decision is made, the loser gets to collect the funds, hop in the car and trudge away to the drive-through of choice, where they'll sit in a long line and give your hard-earned cash to some disgruntled fast-food hawker who will forget to remove the pickles and most certainly omit your preferred dipping sauces. So after an hour, you finally get to feast on a lukewarm burger and soggy fries—hardly "fast" food. In his latest cookbook venture, More Fast Food My Way, Chef Jacques Pepin gives "fast food" new meaning. Pick up tips as Pepin demonstrates recipes like scallop pancakes, leek and mushroom soup, and stuffed pork filet on grape tomatoes, all of which can be made in less than 20 minutes (aka your wait time in the Steak 'n' Shake drive-through), on Wednesday at the Dallas Central Market, 5750 E.
