Rent By the Hour

Since publishing photographs in D magazine documenting the heroin epidemic among Plano teens in the late '90s, Misty Keasler has developed a reputation as a photographer with a singular eye for the strange places people live. Her pictures of the people who live in cardboard huts on the fringes of the Guatemala City Dump won her the prestigious Lange-Taylor Prize for 2003. Now Keasler's back with a show that may be even more disturbing: so-called "Love Hotels" in Japan, where guests can check into places such as the Hello Kitty S&M room. Keasler signs Love Hotels from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m Thursday at Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery, 1202 Dragon St., Suite 103. Call 214-969-1852.
Thu., Nov. 30, 6-8 p.m.
