It's still somewhat shocking that, as the start of baseball season looms nearer, people in DFW are excited about the home team's prospects. Long-time natives of the Dallas area can attest that the years of dread or downright indifference to a Texas Rangers season seemed endless. That is, until last season. In the '09 season (at least in this girl's humble opinion), the Rangers finally became relevant again after almost a decade of near desolation. This season is promising; with new team addition Vladimir Guerrero, a new owner, returning Sports Illustrated cover boy Josh Hamilton, and team president Nolan Ryan's 92-game winning projection, the Rangers have a better-than-decent shot at winning the American League West. On opening weekend, the Rangers will take on the Seattle Mariners at The Ballpark in Arlington in a three-game series beginning at 7:05 p.m. Friday. Play reconvenes at 2:10 p.m. Saturday and again at 2:05 p.m. Sunday. Visit texas.rangers.mlb.com for tickets and more information.
