Right Off the Page
I never got into Jane Austen. The idea of corsets, arranged relationships, meddlers and bewitching looks that lead logically thinking folk to throw caution to the wind (in their imagination if not in real life) didn't do much for me as a teen. I was satisfied to stick with fiction and realism via Judy Blume and Our Bodies, Ourselves. Some peeps, however, dug the period lit and still do...so much so there's a movie about it. The Jane Austen Book Club follows a reading group whose members begin noticing similarities between their relationships and those of their beloved page-bound characters. See it as part of the Magnolia at the Modern series Friday through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. Admission is $8.50. Visit themodern.org/magnolia for showtimes.
