At last recollection the Trinity River in Fort Worth doesn’t smell like an overflowing cesspool. Good ol’ Panther City can actually promise pretty good times then at the 35th annual Mayfest, with activities actually in and on the river! Special attractions include aqua golf, a water balloon launch and canoes, kayaks and paddleboats available for rent. There is also a 10K, 5K and 1K Fun Run, a gift market displaying a variety of handcrafted, original art from artists all over the country, many activities for children including “the world’s largest inflatable slide,” an obstacle course, rock climbing, paintball, a mechanical bull, a petting zoo and pony rides. Musical entertainment will be provided to the tune of the Feds, Black Tie Dynasty, Eleven Hundred Springs, Deep Blue Something, Wayne Hancock and Brave Combo, along with all the expected food and drinks. It all goes down this weekend at Trinity Park, 2401 University Drive in Fort Worth. Festival hours are 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $7, $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and under.
