Run, Watch, Get Sloshed. St. Patty's!
Wake up early, stretch, run three miles or so, drink to impressive excess, wave and holler at the fellow inebriated revelers atop parade floats, vomit, pump fists and thrust pelvises to whatever band happens to be playing in Energy Square, then — and only then — hop the DART Rail to wherever you may or may not have left your car. Hello, Grand Dallas Tradition! The best part of this year’s St. Patrick’s Day happenings (other than the drunken pelvis thrusting to music, of course) is that everything will be taking place on the anniversary of the death of the former slave boy who eventually became the hero of all that is red-headed and easily sun-burned. The annual parade, which was rescued financially by St. Cuban the Maverick, will kick off at 11 a.m., but the St. Paddy’s Day Dash Down Greenville 5k will begin at 8 a.m. For registration information and further details regarding running, then vomiting, visit runproject.org/dash-down-greenville-5k. For details on just watching floats, wearing green beads and then vomiting, visit greenvilleavenueparade.com.
