If you're a fan of works by actor, director, author and playwright Sam Shepard, you should know that although he's from Illinois, he does have Texas ties, having donated his papers to Texas State University a few years back. So, you could take a road trip down to San Marcos to get a closer look at what Jessica Lange's main squeeze has created over the years, but it's a much quicker drive over to Undermain Theatre, 3200 Main St., to see its production of his play Ages of the Moon. The darkly comedic story examines the lengthy friendship of two men as they swap stories and memories over glasses of whiskey while waiting to watch a lunar eclipse. See it as a $10 preview performance Thursday or Friday if you just can't wait, or hold your horses and wait for the official opening Saturday night. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through November 12. Tickets are $15 to $25 with discounts for students, seniors and KERA members. For tickets or more information, call 214-747-5515 or visit undermain.org.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 15. Continues through Nov. 12, 2011
