How can we mention the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders without mentioning the classic 1979 made-for-TV classic called, uh, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders? Starring Bert Convy(!), Jane Seymour(!!) and Bucky "Red Sox Killer" Dent (!!!), the show had it all: giggling, booby-jiggling ladies clad in those iconic blue and white bra-and-panties sets--oops, I mean "uniforms"--plus high kicks and high drama. Fast-forward 28 years, and while the high white boots, titillating uniforms and spangled spandex have stuck around, the tittering sexpot act has been toned down. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders of the new millennium are more family-centered, despite being encrusted in glam and glitz. Kinda like the new Las Vegas. Take, for example, their upcoming Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Family and Friends Extravaganza show, which will be the 2006 squad's final appearance together. The show has been around for 25 years (but open to the public for the first time) and is a kind of throwback genuine musical variety show, with elaborate costumes, country star Neal McCoy, the Junior Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (!!!!) and video montages highlighting the past season. And as a final farewell, Bill Parcells will appear wearing nothing but a blue thong and star pasties over his ample nipples. OK, we made that last part up--but considering the fiasco that was the '06-'07 season, wouldn't that beat the video montage? The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Family and Friends Extravaganza takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St. Tickets are $39 to $79.
