Smoke It Up
When I used to live in New York I never went to plays, except the one time my brother came into town with free tickets to something called Tony and Tina's Wedding, which everyone in the world had heard of except for us. Apparently, it's one of the longest running plays off Broadway, and the whole thing is built around audience participation. You're not just watching a play, see, you're part of the wedding party. Then after the wedding you cross the street and get free bread and spaghetti and champagne, and there's this meeting where you realize you and every other guy at the wedding are in the Mafia. Apparently, this whole audience participation thing has spread to Texas and can be witnessed at the Artisan Center Theater, 404 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst, during their down-home production of Smoke on the Mountain which runs through September 2. For tickets, call 817-284-1200 or visit artisanct.com.
Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 & 7:30 p.m. Starts: Aug. 10. Continues through Sept. 2
