Most men don't talk about circumcision candidly, but then again, there are a few who aren't afraid to broach the touchy subject. Don't worry, you probably won't hear many foreskin jokes here, but you will find humor in Yisrael Campbell's account of his multiple religious conversions in his one-man show, Circumcise Me. Religion is often fodder for comics, but for this performer faith isn't just a joke. Born Christopher Campbell, the comedic storyteller grew up in the Catholic church, but he traded his rosary for a yarmulke after overcoming substance abuse as a teenager. Since then, Campbell's joined every major Jewish denomination--from Reform to Orthodox Judaism--and he jokes that he's been circumcised three times because of his conversions. His religious journey might not seem like the stuff of comedies, but Campbell's unabashed approach to the sensitive subject of religion might make you want to convert. Just don't start a conversion competition with Yisrael Campbell. He's already got you beat. Campbell performs Circumcise Me at the Zale Auditorium inside the Jewish Community Center of Dallas, 7900 Northhaven Road, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $20 to $25. Call 214-739-2737 or visit jccdallas.org for tickets and more information.
