References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot is a play that’s every bit as surreal as its title would have you believe: Melting clocks are in short supply, but the talking moon and scandalous relationship between a kitty and a coyote more than make up for that. They also make up for the dissatisfaction that the play’s heroine, Gabriela, feels as her husband returns home from a tour of duty in the Persian Gulf. The Army wife feels distant from her spouse, who chases his dreams of military adventure as she languishes in a lonely world where anthropomorphized celestial objects and Dali prints tacked up on the bedroom wall are her touchstones. Cara Mia Theatre Co. brings the tale of repressed longing and distorted realities to life in a production staged at the Latino Cultural Center (2600 Live Oak St.) from Friday through March 8. Shows are at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays; buy tickets for $10 to $25 at caramiatheatre.org.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Feb. 20. Continues through March 8, 2015
