No word if there will be lattes and arugula served by the twenty-one North Texas movie theaters slated to simulcast This American Life – Live! on May 10, but it is a rare chance for you “Limousine Liberals” to see Ira in his element, as his weekly radio show broadcasts from the Skirball Center at NYU. Guests include writer David Rakoff, comedian Tig Notaro and Snap Judgment host Glynn Washington performing live with rock band OK Go, the Monica Bill Barnes & Company dance troupe, as well as a short film by Mike Birbiglia, some “original animation and illustration” and plenty of special surprise guests. Forget the PRI naysayers; revel in the beauty of public radio as that hot piece of Glass examines the theme of “The Invisible Made Visible,” and revives the process of American storytelling and the all but lost art of the raconteur. Ticket price varies depending on the theater: find you location and purchase tickets for the 7:00 p.m. live show on May 10, or its 7:30 p.m. taped encore on May 15, at fathomevents.com.
