Stop the Wedding

The first rule of Al Green is that you do not talk about Al Green. At least, not when somebody's already doing that in the music section of this very same issue of this very paper in anticipation of his upcoming concert with Etta James and Delbert McClinton. So we won't tell you a bunch of background info about the Reverend of Soul, and we won't make puns about staying together or getting tired of being alone. It'll hurt, but we won't. Instead, we'll talk about accompanying acts James and McClinton, legends in their own right. James, whose 1961 hit "At Last" catapulted her to the top of the R&B charts, recently lost more than 200 pounds courtesy of gastric bypass surgery, so she'll be in tip-top shape to entertain at Nokia Theatre. The bleach-blond hair is long gone, but James' trademark soulful style will be out in full swing. Texas blues icon Delbert McClinton, who had a No.1 hit in 1978 for his duet "Two More Bottles of Wine" with Emmylou Harris, starts the show. Green, James and McClinton perform 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nokia Theatre, 1001 Performance Place Drive in Grand Prairie. Tickets are $39.50 to $67.50. Call 214-373-8000 or visit
