Such A Gorgeous Day
After a winter like the one we shivered through this year, signs of spring are especially welcome. It's a good feeling to put the Snuggies into storage, drag out last year's gladiator sandals, and get out in the warm sun for a little bit of overdue vitamin D exposure. The Dallas Art Dealer's Association (DADA) gives us the perfect opportunity to enjoy this much-deserved spring sunshine with its annual Spring Gallery Walk on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Of course, since there are 35-plus galleries involved--some of which are in far-flung areas such as Arlington, Irving, and the Park Cities--it's not a walk, per se. You can hit all the galleries in the Design District by foot and then open up the sun roof and carpool to galleries in Deep Ellum, Oak Cliff and the 'burbs. Hit a couple of panel discussions to cool your heels--including a fascinating discussion of the legal rights of artists in the digital age that starts early at 10:30 a.m.--and then wrap up the day by chilling at the official afterparty from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. The afterparty features over 20 artists, five live bands and two DJs. All in all, it's a full day of different perspectives, different experiences and exposure to the (hopefully pleasant) elements. The Gallery Walk is free, and tickets are available online for the panel discussions and afterparty. Find more details, including a list and map of all participating galleries, at dallasartdealers.org.
