The members of the Extreme Midget Wrestling team don’t need your politically correct tiptoeing. They don’t care that the Little People of America organization are a bit dismayed at their insistence on using the “M” word. They just want to get in the ring, bounce off the ropes and beat the shit out of one of their rivals. And, in the grand tradition of wrestling, that’s what it’s all about. Whether you’re watching Triple H battle Shawn Michaels on WWE or wincing as the Extreme Midget Wrestling Federation’s Lil Rampage is taking out Mike Hawk via the magic of the piledriver, you’re party to a vaudevillian tradition that has never been big on being PC. If you want polite and well-mannered, you should stay home and stream Downton Abbey. If you want to see a show that piles on stunts, showmanship and ass-kicking, Extreme Midget Wrestling has you covered in an event billed, with absolutely no qualms, as “the baddest little show on earth.” Get your fill of bell claps, folding chair ringers and Bronco busters starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday at House of Blues, 2200 North Lamar St. Tickets are $10 to $20 for this 18-and-older event, and may be purchased at livenation.com.
Wed., Aug. 15, 8 p.m., 2012
