The Bridge to Fabulous
Talk about an art exhibition that really nails the interest of Dallas citizens: Try an installation that uses pre-made pieces and images of bridges (ahem) and maps of our city, along with art information carts and kiosks, to convey just how industrial and city structures affect people's everyday lives. Maybe someone should have put artist Christian Wulffen on the city planning committee during a few meetings concerning a certain Trinity River bridge. Wulffen's Bridges and Constructions blends his manufactured pieces with relatable and familiar media such as graphite, wood and newsprint in Dallas Contemporary's West Gallery while simultaneously, Jason Reynaga assaults the senses with Bling Bang!--in the seductive style of video games and the like--with multi-dimensional pieces that are as much fabulous glitterosity as they are visions of violence. Both exhibitions show through January 30, 2011. Dallas Contemporary is located at 161 Glass St. Call 214-821-2522 or visit dallascontemporary.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Nov. 20. Continues through Jan. 30, 2010
