The Doggone Girls Are His
From his early post-disco dancefloor smash hits to the "Thriller" video's zombie dance to the moonwalk, Michael Jackson's music has always been defined by dance. But other than some of the ladies in his music videos, I can't say I've ever associated the King of Pop with anything erotic--or at least erotic as defined by my own heterosexual, consenting-adults preferences. Which makes the idea of this month's Ruby Revue burlesque show, Off the Wall, a tribute to the late singer and dancer, seem like an interesting challenge. Maybe one of the dancers will turn his signature single rhinestoned glove into a fetish object, or model a much skimpier version of his sparkly military-inspired '80s outfits. Pretty young things performing include Miss Coco Lectric (a recent Miss Exotic World performer), Angi B. Lovely, Ginger Valentine and more. The show starts at 8 p.m. Thursday (just 10 days before what would have been Jackson's 52nd birthday) in the Cambridge Room at the House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St. Call 214-978-BLUE or visit hob.com or rubyrevue.com for tickets ($20) and more information.
