You’re a dad now, so you get to do a lot of boring things, like meeting with financial advisers and reapplying sunscreen to non-compliant targets. But none of that stuff precludes you from cutting loose once in a while. Thrash’d Swag is a best-of-both-worlds scenario for dads: Not only can you hang with the kiddos, but you can also unleash your best kick-flip and relish the looks on their faces when you nail it. This all-ages street skating and hip-hop event offers cash prizes for highest ollie and best trick and will give aspiring skaters some always-appreciated bonding time with pops — on Father’s Day, no less. Head to Guapo Skills Center, 1300 Corinth, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and check out live performances from Topic, Raw Elementz, Human Resources, JT of Brain Gang, Hyper Uppercut, Yung Ghandi and N.O.V.A, as well as DJ sets by Metrodone, Matt E.P. and Marty Mar. Admission is $5; visit facebook.com/ThrashedSwag for more information.
Sun., June 17, 3-8 p.m., 2012
