The Many Faces of Cindy
You have one more month to take in Cindy Sherman’s 30-year career retrospective at the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 Harwood St.), which features the photographer in various disguises of her own design. From her early ’80s series of women in distress to her more recent collection of tanned and tightened socialites, Sherman has always been her own muse. And her cast of characters, all collected in one place, is dizzying to behold. Thursday at the DMA, Gabriel Ritter leads the lecture Cindy Sherman: Artist as Model, which uses her work to explore the approach of Indian performance artist Pushpamala N., Korean photographer Nikki S. Lee and Japan’s Yasumasa Morimura, and how self-portraiture is interpreted across cultures. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and costs $5. Call 214-922-1818 or visit dma.org for more details.
