The Wrath of Everyday Life
Unless you're standing at the helm of a spaceship right now, you already know the life of James T. Kirk is far from normal, but it gives us warm fuzzies to know that he's got problems just like us. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Admiral Kirk, is amidst a typical midlife crisis when his genetically engineered nemesis, Khan, returns from obscurity to exact revenge. Kirk must outwit a man created to be superior to humans. We'd go buy a fast motorcycle for our midlife crisis, but while our enemies may be genetically challenged, they're not genetically engineered super-humans. After Khan hijacks a Federation Starship, he tricks Kirk and blasts the Enterprise with photon torpedoes. With little or no resources remaining, Kirk and his crew go head-to-head with the angry foe in a dark corner of space. Since there's a sequel to this 1982 film, you may assume that Kirk prevails, but you'll have to head to the screening at the Palace Theatre, 300 S. Main St, Grapevine, to find out how. The screening starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is $5. For more information, contact Palace Arts Center at 817-410-3100.
