What’s it going to take to get you to the Chinese Lantern Festival? You’ve seen people rushing in and out of it looking simply thrilled. You’ve looked through photo posts on the Observer arts blog, The Mixmaster, that explain, in great detail, that it’s decidedly awesome. And then, just when you thought you’d run out of time, they extended the show through the holidays. Still can’t quite motivate? Here’s a thought: It’s the holidays, you’ve been penned in with your family all day who are visiting from out of town and now you’re out of life updates to charm them with. GUESS WHAT? The Chinese Lantern Festival in Fair Park is open. You won’t have to say a word, just let those animatronic dinosaurs, music-playing ants and seductively posed pandas speak the words you wish you had inside. It’ll be magical. Illuminating. Open. Visit chineselanternfestival.com. The show runs through January 4 and tickets cost $14 to $19.
