Toonces, Noooooo!

This just in: Victoria Jackson is still alive. Remember her? The squeaky-voiced airhead who did handstands on Dennis Miller's "Weekend Update' desk? Yep, she's back. To say she fell into obscurity after her six-season run on Saturday Night Live would be an understatement. Her celebrity status and acting career might as well have been passengers in a car driven by Toonces the Driving Cat. Judging by some recent stand-up clips, she's apparently married a police officer and discovered the hilarity of blond jokes. And in a sure disappointment to the male SNL fans who ogled her during her gymnastic routines, it looks like she's shared a doughnut or 10 too many with the hubby. Her show promises "ukulele songs and characterizations reflecting her commitment to her comedy, faith and family." But I'll always remember her as Teri, George Newman's exasperated girlfriend in the "Weird Al" Yankovic vehicle UHF. Alas, Yankovic has extinguished all but the faintest glimmer of hope for a sequel, so Jackson will probably have to climb out of obscurity on her own. Victoria Jackson performs 8 p.m. Saturday in the Courtroom Theater of the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee St. in McKinney. Tickets are $18.50 to $31.50. Call 972-547-2650 or visit
Sat., Sept. 20, 8 p.m., 2008
