Tune Me Up, Scotty
As much as I'd like to think that all the best music happened in the '60s, it has to be conceded that one or two good things happened after the first Star Trek series went off the air. In recognition that maybe not all the musical highlights of Star Trek occurred when Captain Kirk karate-chopped a variety of baddies, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra announces The Music of Star Trek, featuring mainly works by Academy Award-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith. These compositions, helping define the personality of the franchise, will include the "Main Theme" from Star Trek: Voyager, "The Klingon Battle" from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the "Main Theme" from Star Trek: The Motion Picture and musical selections from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. For the benefit of those that haven't memorized the dialogue yet, the music will be accompanied with narration. Beam in 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Ticket prices range from $35 to $75. Call 214-692-0203 or visit DallasSymphony.com.
Tue., June 5, 8 p.m.; Wed., June 6, 8 p.m.
