Video Killed the Radio Star
Tired of combing through dozens of Netflix recommendations for fresh flicks, only to be disappointed? Well, launch yourself off the couch and drive down to the Angelika. VideoFest, an annual local film festival showcasing documentaries, independent and experimental films, starts tonight. The Video Association of Dallas says the festival is about providing a "critical voice in the wilderness" of media "to interpret its cultural and artistic significance." In other words, let them pick the movies--you just watch. Tonight's screenings are from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Angelika Film Center, 5321 Mockingbird Lane. The festival continues from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, noon to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. To 10 p.m. Sunday. Passes start at $25. For tickets and info visit videofest.org.
