Watch for Falling Sandbags
It’s not often you get the feeling of being lighter than air, particularly when your feet are planted firmly on the ground. Often, we’re so weighted down that the gift of flight requires an expensive round-trip ticket and a struggle with an overhead compartment. But sometimes on the happiest of days, we get it — a kind of soaring feeling, brought on by a rush of glee or a particular song or a beautiful sight ... like the kind you’ll see at the Plano Balloon Festival, Friday through Sunday at Oak Point Park, 2801 East Spring Creek Parkway. Stake out a spot and witness hot-air nirvana as balloons fill the sky, or stick around after dark for the balloon glow. Closer to the ground, you can enjoy live music on the K-LUV 98.7 Main Stage, a car show and a kid’s corner full of games and inflatable rides. Tickets are $5 for adults, free for kids under 36 inches and $1 for seniors. Gates are open from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday.
