Weird Science

Always insane and eccentric, he wears a long white lab coat, black gloves and a permanent grin. Beakers in hand and hair on end, he is overly obsessed with his work. From Victor Frankenstein, creator of Frankenstein's monster, to Dexter, the compact and lovable main character of Cartoon Network's Dexter's Laboratory, mad scientists have become a fixture in pop culture. And why not? They're usually hilarious or ridiculous, if not a little one-tracked mentally. My favorite is Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers movies. "I have one simple request, and that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads!" Get your science on at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History's Mad Scientist Ball from 7 p.m. until midnight Saturday at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Benefiting the Museum's educational programs, the eco-friendly gala promises to be memorable. Guests will enjoy dinner, live music and the event’s signature interactive science experiments. Something else that's a little mad? Individual tickets go for $600 each. For questions, information or to purchase tickets over the phone call 817-255-9404.
