What Happens In Cairo...
Reality takes a backseat in Cairo Time, a love story targeted to ladies who buy J. Crew sweater sets and consider Nora Roberts a guilty pleasure. The AARP chick flick stars the excellent Patricia Clarkson, a fashion editor romanced by Alexander Siddig's suave and swarthy guide on what's supposed to be a vacation in Cairo with her frequently absent husband. Marriage, interrupted. The movie unfailingly dishes out the requisite romantic cliches: the sweeping score, the throwaway lines like "Here we believe in fate!" Granted, the cinematography is breathtaking, and Clarkson is an actress worth watching. The movie has garnered interest at some of the smaller film festivals, so expect to hear the title again when awards season arrives. Carve out 90 minutes to watch Cairo Time, this weekend's Magnolia at the Modern selection, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. Show times are 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8.50, $6.50 for Modern members. Tickets go on sale two hours before showtime. For more information call 817-738-9215 or visit themodern.org.
