What's Your Gauge?
The old-fashioned quilting bee had a lot to recommend it: skilled women trading gossip and sewing tips and a tad of wisdom when called for. The Lakewood Knitwits have exchanged batting and tying for skipping and purling, but the theory is the same: conversation and busy fingers. The Knitwits host skill levels from beginner to expert, and they meet every Tuesday for two hours to exchange tips, chat and make fuzzy sweaters. And ya gotta love the name. These ladiesahem, knitters can be men as wellmust enjoy a laugh or two while wielding those big needles. Join them from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at the Lakewood Branch Library, 6121 Worth St. Call 214-670-1376.
Tuesdays, 2-4 p.m., 2004
