Where’s the Nightstand Bible?

Dallas started gearing up for the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination a year ago, and it will be interesting to see how much revision and hand-wringing goes into November’s “festivities.” On a more interesting note, the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 N. Harwood St.) is presenting Hotel Texas: An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy, a Reunion of Masterworks Exhibited in the Hotel Suite of the Presidential Couple, in conjunction with Fort Worth’s Amon Carter Museum. The exhibit, which runs through September 15, presents all the works of art in the President’s Fort Worth suite that November night in 1963, including paintings by Van Gogh, Monet and Franz Kline, and sculptures by Picasso, installed by a small group of Fort Worth art collectors who wanted to add a little beauty to their stay. The Sixth Floor Museum has also donated some films of JFK’s visit. The opening day tour starts at 2 p.m. Sunday. Visit dma.org or call 214-922-1200 for more info.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 26. Continues through Sept. 5, 2013
