Wider Than A Mile

"Moon River" was never a chart hit, but it's been Andy Williams' signature song ever since he sang the Breakfast at Tiffany's theme song at the 1964 Oscars. Now you'll have the chance to hear all about that and other experiences as Williams comes to Dallas to plug his book Moon River and Me: A Memoir. Williams began life as a church choir kid from Iowa and became the artistic equivalent of Bing Crosby's little brother, selling more gold albums than any other artist of the time excepting Sinatra, Mathis and Presley. So come grab a seat and listen to the reminiscences of this lifelong Republican who was also a close friend of the Kennedys, vocally opposed Nixon's attempts to throw John Lennon out of the country, was hailed by Reagan as a national treasure and recently called Obama a Communist (if somebody brings up politics, things could get really interesting). And don't forget--he also dubbed Lauren Bacall's high notes in To Have and Have Not. All said there's plenty of excellent material here for an entertaining evening at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road. The free event starts at 7 p.m., seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Call 214-368-6348 or visit
