Do you remember when you made those cheesy Christmas ornaments for your mom in art class? You know, the ones that she still, after all these years, puts up on her tree while smiling at them because they remind her of your younger days. She just put up the one with that horrible picture of you and Santa Claus when you were 3. Ever thought of buying her a homemade ornament to make up for your cheap but creative crafts? Now you can. The McKinney Avenue Contemporary is hosting the Blue Yule, a fund-raising event that showcases handmade ornaments to benefit artistic and educational programming. Offering a $250 prize for the artist with the best ornament, this charity event also features a blue Madonna, blue bling and mystery blue punch. Man, that's a lot of blue! Did we mention the music, food and silent auction? The Blue Yule takes place on December 5 at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, 3120 McKinney Ave. at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $20.
