Union Bear Brewing
5880 State Highway 121, Plano
This new brewery and restaurant in Granite Park is owned by {33} Restaurant Group, the group behind Cadillac Pizza Pub in McKinney and Taverna Rossa Craft Pizza and Beer in Plano and Southlake. The brewery has four house-brewed beers on tap to start and serves classic American fare such as flatbreads, patty melts and a pork chop porterhouse.

Eddie's Diner brings homey diner vibes to West Parker Road in Plano.

This new husband-and-wife-owned diner serves breakfast all day. Try the B.A.T. Bennie: bacon, avocado and tomato stacked high on a fluffy English muffin and comfortably coated in a Hollandaise sauce.

If you're the sort of person who never misses a $30 opportunity for fresh-shaved truffle on your pasta, the new Da Mario Italian restaurant in The Star is your kinda place. Try the fettuccine alla fiamma con tartufo ($28), prepared in an 80-pound wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano that's set on fire table-side.

OK, it's been open since July, but for us, George Coffee + Provisions in Coppell is a new discovery we couldn't help but fall in love with. The chic, modern coffee shop serves breakfast tacos made to order, charcuterie boards and a chicken salad bento box, along with honey-vanilla lattes. This is one coffee shop you'll want to hang around in for a while.
