How many chances will you get to drive a hot new BMW and do some good? Four, if you're in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during the 2004 Ultimate Drive for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the eighth year this event has taken place. For every mile you test-drive in one of the 19 new BMW automobiles specifically designed for the Ultimate Drive events, BMW will donate a dollar to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which offers breast cancer research, education and prevention, and screening and treatment programs. The total raised through the Ultimate Drive in the past seven years is about $7 million. This year there will also be a drawing for a 2004 Mystic Blue BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle autographed by the cast of Friends. Dates and locations are May 12, John Roberts BMW, 2536 Forest Lane; May 14, Moritz BMW, 1105 E. Lamar, Arlington; May 15, Autobahn Motorcars, 2828 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth; and May 17, Classic BMW, 300 N. Central Expressway. Everyone knows that a city ain't a city until it has an art-house movie theater, access to an IKEA and New Agers doing tai chi in the park. Dallas Yoga Center teams up with Arlington Hall Conservancy to offer yoga sessions in Lee Park for beginning to advanced yogis. Vinyasa Flow yoga combines poses with breathing to create a graceful and energizing workout--so you can feel fit and urban hip at the same time. Phone preregistration is required and, though sessions begin at 10:30 a.m., come early for a good spot and to find out more about conservancy membership (members receive a 10 percent discount). I think I'd just shot, like, a 50 on the front side, so I stopped in the clubhouse to get a Coke. (Now, it'd be a beer, but at the time I was in high school.) Inside were the two best golfers in town. The day before, they were at the nearby PGA Tour event. All they could talk about, as I drank my Coke, was watching the golfers on the practice range. Not the tournament itself, mind you. Only the range. How far Els can hit it with such an effortless swing. How Vijay can draw the ball, or fade it, on command. How effin' amazing Tiger is. The Byron Nelson Classic's in Irving from May 12 through May 16 at Four Seasons at Las Colinas, 4150 N. MacArthur Blvd. Go. You'll see what the two best golfers in town saw.
