If you haven't witnessed intense theatre eroticism, than you're seriously missing something in your life. Caligula is available, but you can go deeper into a live, tortured-psyche at the Hip Pocket Theatre in Fort Worth for Circus Salome: a re-imagining of Oscar Wilde's much-adapted play. This version, adapted and directed by David Yeakle with music by Justin Sherburn, is constructed around a "strange circus" where Ringmaster Herod lusts for his spoiled, acrobat stepdaughter Salome. Hip Pocket further describes the show-to-be as presented in a "world of abusive power, gluttonous excess, and sexual desire." English majors may be squealing and grinding in their chairs from frustration, but fret no longer: the erotic, brooding elements of Wilde's original play will remain intact and ready for judgin'. Circus Salome runs Friday through September 26, at 8:15 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. General adult passes are $7.50 and students can get in for $5. Parents: you probably want to leave the kids at home, as this is semi-NSFW, and bring a backpack full of bug spray: You can find Hip Pocket in the deep, dark woods on 1950 Silver Creek Road. Call 817-246-9775.
Fridays-Sundays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: Sept. 3. Continues through Sept. 26, 2010
