If you're getting tired of the old "dinner and a movie" routine, then Fort Worth's Stage West may have the perfect treat for you this weekend. They've recently started Prix Fixe Fridays, a special deal where you get admission to the current show and a meal (with dessert!) from the Ol' Vic Cafe for only $35 (not including alcohol or gratuity, of course), and the current run of Patrick Barlow's The 39 Steps is one you definitely shouldn't miss. Barlow's Tony and Olivier Award-winning play is perfect for modern audiences--based on Alfred Hitchcock's classic film (which was based on John Buchan's action-adventure novel), The 39 Steps puts a brand new spin on the same old tale of espionage as it turns a classic thriller with over 100 characters into a witty four man show. Friday night's performance (reservations are recommended) starts at 8 p.m., with food service beginning 90 minutes before the show, and there will be additional performances Thursdays through Sundays until September 26 at Stage West in Fort Worth, 821 W. Vickery Blvd. Tickets are $26 to $30 for regular performances, with student and senior discounts available. Call 817-784-9378 or visit stagewest.org.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 26. Continues through Sept. 26, 2010
