I've always thought that toy trains were pretty cool, especially considering the fact that Neil Young is into them. There's just something undeniably charming, unbelievably nerdy and quintessentially American about building a tiny little fantasy town to drive your tiny little fantasy train around in. If Lionel is looking for some design help, they'd be wise to call on photographer Esteban Pastorino, who has an incredible knack for taking pictures that make large-scale, real-life scenes (such as urban skylines and bullfighting arenas) look like tiny sets lying on the floor in Neil Young's basement. See for yourself at Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery, 1202 Dragon St., where the photographer's work will be on display Friday through December 20. The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; the gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call 214-969-1852 or visit pdnbgallery.com.
Fri., Nov. 10, 6-8 p.m.; Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Starts: Nov. 10. Continues through Dec. 20
