Calling all Spielberg, Lucas and Coppola wannabes. And well, even if you aren't a wannabe and just a film lover, the 22nd Annual VideoFest is looking for television and film gurus ready to have some artistic fun. This festival--the oldest and largest in the nation--is a four-day event, featuring more than 200 local, regional and international works. Accepting all types of electronic media, the festival will be showing everything from documentaries, animation and video art to, yes, even TV commercials. It's a prime place for any film entrepreneur to be. There are no content restrictions for submissions and categories include every style and genre. Texas entries of less than 25 minutes are also eligible for a program called Texas Show. Participants will also enjoy viewing 75 Musicians, a documentary about independent bands, their lives and why they're so furious; and Chicago Corner, a visual piece on the transformation of a Chicago public housing project into an estate development. Maybe the festival will convince you to be a wannabe after all. The VideoFest takes place from Thursday through Sunday at the Angelika Film Center, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane. Entry prices range from $20 to $40. For more information, call 214-428-8700 or visit videofest.org.
