It's fair to say that Americans are huge fans of any holiday that incorporates grilling (or any other kind of food consumption), beer drinking and any sort of potential patriotic display where color-coordinated clothing is required. Be it Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day, etc., no one can resist a good celebration of pride. Perhaps the most perennial of those holidays is the Fourth of July, celebrated locally to the fullest extent at Addison's own Kaboom Town! Careful not to infringe on actual day-of barbecues, this premier fireworks festival takes place on July 3, starting 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Addison Circle Park. The evening will include live entertainment, a flyover and, of course, one of the best fireworks displays (no lie--it's been named one of the nation's top 10 by the American Pyrotechnics Association!) the state has to offer. And for those wary of what will surely be traffic of epic proportions, Ferris Bueller's Day Off will be screened at the close of the evening for those wishing to wait it out. Nothing epitomizes freedom quite like Ferris and his notorious truancy from school. Admission is free; visit addisontexas.net for more information.
