As a recent devotee to Entourage and all of the Hollywood drama and stereotypes (and well primarily just Jeremy Piven in general) it entails, I am convinced that if Vincent Chase really did exist, he and E would have fired Ari for not getting him the lead role in David Michod's Animal Kingdom, a film set to play at the Magnolia at The Modern Friday through Sunday. This independent film and winner of World Cinema Dramatic Grand Jury prize (whatever that means) at Sundance chronicles a seventeen-year-old boy trying to navigate, or rather survive, the perils of his Australian crime family and the detective investigating the case who thinks he can save him. It's basically the anti-Sopranos crime family story. And apart from good ol' Vinny being Hispanic and from Queens, the violence and gun slinging and the paltry budget of this film would definitely have made the project right up Aquaman's alley. The film will run at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Tickets are $8.50 (or $6.50 for members) and advance ticket sales start two hours prior to show time. For more information, call 817-738-9215 or visit themodern.org.
