If you love watching other people fail while thinking to yourself, "I could do that way better," then spending a Tuesday evening (4 to 7 p.m.) watching people play Extreme Rock Band at the Gaylord Texan is where it's at. What makes it "extreme"? At the end of the competition, someone gets kicked in the balls. No, not really. It's extreme because you're performing in front of a giant plasma screen on a full-sized rock stage complete with lights and stadium speakers, and you'll be opening for Some Twelve Year-Old Who's Neither As Pathetic Nor As Untalented As You. If you're lucky, it'll smell like sweat and herpes and some wannabe MILF groupies will throw their 18-hour, full-support bras at you! Promise you won't change once you're famous. Alice Laussade writes about food, kids, music, and anything else she finds to be completely ridiculous. She created and hosts the Dallas event, Meat Fight, which is a barbecue competition and fundraiser that benefits the National MS Society. Last year, the event raised $100,000 for people living with MS, and 750 people could be seen shoving sausage links into their faces. And one time, she won a James Beard Award for Humor in Writing. That was pretty cool.
