If you're a part of the baby boom generation, congratulations on making it through the red scare. Life just wouldn't be the same without a few scary communist and socialist experiences. Wouldn't you agree? After all, they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and the American public should never forget the good, the bad and the ugly. And with help from Neil Simon's play Laughter on the 23rd Floor, remembrance won't be a problem. Audience members will surely earn a gold star in history. Inspired by Simon's time as a jokester on Your Show of Shows, Max Prince is 1953's king of comedy. But when McCarthyism steps in, scares the public and creates paranoia, the network wants Max to take it easy with all the joking. Will communism prevail over classic American comedy? You'll have to watch and find out. This theatrical production takes place at WaterTower Theater, 15650 Addison Road, from Thursday through February 7. Tickets are $15 to $40.
