Artist Julian Wolkenstein has a thing for horses, or more specifically, styling them. Her glamour shots of steeds, their manes done up to resemble human hairstyles, are startling and infinitely more memorable than the talking horse movie with Bobcat Goldthwait (bet ya can't remember the title of that one without Googlin' it, huh?). Wolkenstein is just one of nearly 20 artists taking part in Domestic Animals, a collection of strange and wonderful animal art curated by artist Heyd Fontenot and Webb Gallery directors Julie and Bruce Webb. You'll see paintings, photos, kitchen utensil sculptures and "macabre assemblages of taxidermy in crocheted toaster-cozies" as the exhibit hangs through January 31 at the Webb Gallery, 209 W. Franklin St. in Waxahachie. Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Call 972-938-8085 or visit webbartgallery.com.
Saturdays, Sundays, 1-5 p.m. Starts: Nov. 14. Continues through Jan. 31, 2009
